Mandrake 9.0 on a Twinhead Slimnote 9T 166 TZ
So, first of all, I have an old Twinhead Slimnote 9T 166TZ with the
following
Hardware :
Installation
Because of disk space limitation, I made only a / partition (and a Swap
partition).
There were no problem during installation.
I like the Mandrake distro and his spirit.
Thanks to Mandrake for their great work !
Graphic card
It works fine.
Sound
It seems it does not work.
PCMCIA
It works fine. I have a PCMCIA modem, and a PCMCIA ethernet (10/100)
card.
They are both recognized without problem.
Sometimes, I experienced a crash of the computer when unplugging a
pcmcia
card.
IRDA
Not tried.
USB
I have tried an USB mobile hard disk and it works fine.
However, I have to manually load the USB kernel module.
Apm
Suspend to disk works without problem with Linux. It is a good thing,
because
restarting linux on this old laptop takes a long time !
You simply have to configure your Bios so that suspend to disk is
activated.
Then give the appropriate permissions to the users to suspend :
chmod u+s /usr/bin/apm
You can suspend with the following command :
apm -s
Remark : I had to disable the automatic suspension of the computer in
the
Bios. Indeed, after some time of inactivity, the computer was crashed.
